· Before the 9-year streak from 1993-2014, Boston had never won more than 6 straight home openers (1907-12 and 1938-43).
· This marks the 2nd straight season, and just the 2nd time ever, that Boston has opened its home slate against an NL team…The Sox lost 6-2 to MIL in 2014.

SENATORIAL DEBUTS: Today’s game marks 18th time that a team from Washington, DC has played the foe in the Red Sox’ first game of a season at Fenway Park…The previous 17 matchups coming against the Washington Senators (11-6), an original AL team that moved to Minnesota in 1961 and became the Twins.
· Boston’s last home debut against Washington came in 1959 and ended in a 7-3 Red Sox victory…Dick Gernert homered and Ike Delock earned the win…The Red Sox won their last 5 home openers against the Senators: 1941, 1947, 1953, 1954, and 1959.
