FROM TEXAS FOR CASH CONSIDERATIONS
RHP Anthony Varvaro Transferred to 60-Day DL following Successful Surgery
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today acquired outfielder Carlos Peguero from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Anthony Varvaro was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Peguero will join the Red Sox during their upcoming series against the Rangers at Globe Life Park
Peguero, 28, appeared in 30 games for the Rangers this season before being designated for assignment on May 20. The left-handed batter hit four home runs during the Rangers’ seven-game road trip from May 4-10, homering once on May 5 at Houston and twice the following day against the Astros. Overall this season, Peguero has hit .186 (13-for-70) with 10 runs, four doubles, four home runs, and nine RBI while playing all three outfield positions, making 14 starts in left field and three in right field.
