RASK ON TEAM’S DEFENSE..”I THINK BEST SO FAR THIS YEAR…”

BOSTON BRUINS GOALTENDER TUUKKA RASK

On the pretty good defensive effort of the team…

Really good. I think best so far this year, did a great job.

On if you saw them clearing up the ice pretty good…

Yeah, I think I saw pretty much every puck. They didn’t have that many shots before the last, I don’t know 15, 10 minutes but overall we did a great job clearing those pucks out.

On if the 3-0 game the other night was in the team’s mind at all…

I think yeah, we talked about it after the second a little bit because we need to learn from those and we played a pretty solid third, despite those couple of penalties but you know, I mean they happen.

On what he thought of Seguin’s effort to preserve the shot out there…

Oh that was Tyler [Seguin]? Yeah, I thought it was Dougie [Hamilton]. Okay. Yeah, it was great. Yeah, he was telling me he would have caught the guy, I mean when I sprinted out of the net but it’s good to see he’s got my back and he’s got those goalie skills too, it’s good to see. You’ve got to keep it exciting right?

On him being hot at both ends then…

Yeah, yeah, I mean that’s good. I don’t think they marked a save for us, I think that should be a save. Right?

On them giving him the save…

Yeah, I mean I’ll take the extra ones.

On if it makes it harder to keep sharp with only having 12 shots on net through two periods…

Yeah, it’s never easy but whenever you don’t see that much, that much shots in the game, it’s kind of mentally tougher to stay sharp but when they got those shots, I felt pretty comfortable since they weren’t like riding slot or anything like that so it wasn’t too bad but it always helps to find your rhythm early and get in the game early.

On if this being Rask first game against the Flyers since 2010 mean anything to help…

No. I mean it’s in the past and as I’ve said before we won the whole thing the year after. Things happen in hockey and for a goalie if you start thinking that certain match-ups are better for you than the others then you’re lost half the battle so it was just a game like any other.

On when he was backing up Tim Thomas last year and thinking I want to get back in there…

Not really, I mean I won three games in that play-off series too. Too bad I just lost the last four but I mean as I said, it’s hockey, things happen in hockey and that year it was Philly and it happens.

On how important it was to have this kind of an outing on the heels of the Montreal and Washington games…

I don’t think personally it was that important because I felt pretty good in those two games, even though I let in four goals. I mean I let in two weak ones, one in each game but I think it was better for our team to play a solid 60-minute defensive game but still get the offense. Not so for me to get the shutout cause we’re a team here and win as a team and lose as a team but it’s always good to get a shutout, it tells a lot about team defense.

On how he feels with it being halfway through the season…

I feel good. Taking the last game off, it was good to get a little rest but still I felt good throughout these games and it’s going to get busier and busier so I think it’s really good to keep both goalies going.
