redsox1The Red Sox announced today that they will continue to leave Hanley Ramirez on the DL until he is ” comfortable ” playing first base.

I guess the days of Sox management coddling players is still a plan of action.

JAY HAWK: David Ortiz is tied with Chris Davis for the most homers against the Jays this season with 5, all coming in his last 10 games against Toronto…Ortiz holds the all-time record with 59 career homers against Toronto.
· Ortiz’s 124 career extra-base hits against the Jays are the most all-time, as well as the most for any active player against any single team.

BIRD BASH: Mookie Betts is 27-for-64 (.422) against Toronto this season…His 27 hits are the most by any Toronto opponent in 2015…It marks the 3rd highest single-season hits total by a Red Sox against the Jays, behind Jacoby Ellsbury (34 in 2011) and Dustin Pedroia (31 in 2013).
· Betts has hit in 18 straight games against TOR dating back to 9/5/14 (.421, 32-for-76), the majors’ longest active hit streak against the Jays…It is tied with Rick Burleson (18 G, 1977-78) for the 3rd-longest hit streak by a Red Sox vs. TOR all-time, behind Jerry Remy (24 G, 1978-82) and Wade Boggs (20 G, 1986-88).

STOP CY: Tonight’s opposing starter, Toronto’s R.A. Dickey, won the 2012 NL Cy Young Award…The Red Sox are 8-4 this season against former Cy Young winners, having faced Justin Verlander (2-0), Felix Hernandez (2-0), Corey Kluber (1-0), R.A.
