Pawtucket Red Sox LHP Jalen Beeks (1-1, 3.75) vs. Syracuse Chiefs RHP Sean O’Sullivan (0-0, 3.00)
Series in the Balance – The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Syracuse Chiefs play the finale of their 4-game series (and Pawtucket’s 4-game roadtrip) tonight at 6:35 pm at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse. The series began on Tuesday with the PawSox sweeping a make-up doubleheader by scores of 7-1 and 6-3. The Chiefs got on the board and in the process snapped a 10-game losing streak to Pawtucket with a come-from-behind, 7-6 victory last night (scoring 3 times in the bottom of the 8th to overcome a 6-4 deficit). The PawSox (up 2-1 in this series) have won each of their last two series and 4 of their last 5 sets. They are guaranteed of at least a split here in Syracuse so they have now dropped only one series in their last 7 tries (losing 2 of 3 in Durham from June 2-4).
See You Soon – The Sox will quickly return to Pawtucket after tonight’s game and tomorrow will begin a 7-game homestand (in 6-days). The PawSox and Rochester Red Wings will play tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:05 pm at McCoy (on Armed Forces Night with a Ted Williams camo jersey give-away for the first 3,000 fans), a make-up doubleheader on Saturday at 4:35 pm (with fireworks to Beatles music following the second game), and Sunday at 1:35 pm (with a Father’s Day catch both before and after the game). The 1st-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs, owners of the best record in all of Minor League Baseball, will visit for a 3-game set next Monday – Wednesday nights to close out the homestand (the first two games at 7:05 pm and the get-away finale on Wednesday at 6:05 pm).
