JUNE 1st PAWTUCKET (26-25) at SCRANTON/WB (26-25) 6:35 pm
Pawtucket Red Sox RHP Jess Todd (1-1, 4.26) vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders RHP Kyle Davies (3-3, 4.79)
Return Engagement – The Pawtucket Red Sox look for a measure of revenge against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders when they open a 3-game series at PNC Field in Moosic, PA tonight at 6:35 pm. Exactly one week ago, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre came to McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket and swept a 3-game series from the PawSox last Monday night (2-0), Tuesday evening (4-3), and Wednesday afternoon (9-6). Now the PawSox try to return the favor here in Moosic when they battle the RailRiders tonight & tomorrow night at 6:35 pm and Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 pm.
Battle for 2nd-Place – Pawtucket and Scranton/WB come into play tonight with identical 26-25 records and tied for 2nd-place in the tight IL North division race. The Sox and RailRiders are -1½ games behind 1st-place Rochester. 4th-place Buffalo is only -2 GB.
Last Homestand – Pawtucket finished 2-4 on their 6-game homestand failing to sweep the Louisville Bats yesterday and having to settle for taking 2 of 3 from the Bats. The PawSox were swept in a 3-game series by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week earlier in the homestand. The PawSox went 5-2 on their first homestand, 4-3 on their next homestand, and 3-4 on their last homestand. The Sox will have two more 7-game homestands in June (June 8-14 and June 22-28) before the PawSox break from that pattern with shorter homestands in July.
The Road Ahead – The PawSox 7-game roadtrip begins tonight and will include stops in three different IL North cities in a week span. The Sox face the RailRiders for 3-games, continue on to Rochester on Thursday for a 2-game set with the Red Wings (the Thursday night game at 7:05 pm will be televised on NESN once the Red Sox Post-Game show is over), and conclude the trip with a pair of weekend games in Syracuse on Saturday at 7:05 pm and Sunday at 1:05 pm vs. the Chiefs. The PawSox return to McCoy Stadium one week from tonight for a 7-game homestand (from June 8-14) that will feature three games vs. Charlotte and four vs. Toledo.
