JUNE 16th PAWTUCKET (32-32) at CHARLOTTE (34-29) 7:05 pm

Pawtucket Red Sox RHP Justin Masterson (0-1, 3.52) vs. Charlotte Knights RHP Erik Johnson (4-5, 3.66)

Trip Down South – The Pawtucket Red Sox make their annual trip to the deep south when they begin a 6-game roadtrip tonight with the opener of a 3-game series against the Charlotte Knights at 7:05 pm at beautiful BB&T Ballpark in uptown Charlotte. The PawSox will play in Charlotte tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday night (all at 7:05 pm) before heading further south for a 3-game weekend series in Lawrenceville, GA against the Gwinnett Braves. The Sox will face the Braves on Friday & Saturday at 7:05 pm and Sunday at 2:05 pm in the roadtrip finale.

Southern Hospitality – This sojourn to Charlotte and Gwinnett was very kind to the PawSox last August as they went 7-1 on the trip last August 7-14. That particular stretch went a long way in enabling the PawSox to capture the IL wild card berth last season as Pawtucket would maintain 2nd-place in the IL North for all but one day the remainder of the season following that trip. The Sox swept 4-games in Charlotte last August 7-10 and then took 3 of 4 in Gwinnett last August 11-14.

Undefeated vs. Charlotte at BB&T Ballpark – The PawSox were perfect at BB&T during the 2014 regular-season…the inaugural year of the sparkling new ballpark in Charlotte, however, the Sox did lose their final appearance at BB&T to end the 2014 campaign. We explain. Pawtucket paid their first-ever visit to BB&T last August and swept that 4-game series from the Knights by scores of 8-6, 11-8, 5-2, and 6-4. Then, after winning the 2014 Governors’ Cup Championship, the PawSox returned to Charlotte and BB&T to play Omaha in the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game. Unfortunately, a nice evening turned stormy as the teams endured a nearly two hour rain delay during the middle of the game which Omaha eventually won, 4-2 to hand Pawtucket their only loss ever at BB&T.
