LUCIC: “I THOUGHT WE PLAYED A REAL HARD COMPETITIVE GAME”

BOSTON BRUINS FORWARD MILAN LUCIC
On how challenging it is to keep morale up with all these players getting injured…
It’s tough. Like you said when guys keep going down with injuries and like I said the other day you hope that once everyone is back we don’t have to go through it again. Those are one of the things that you have to go through sometimes throughout a season, dealing with injuries to key guys. This is one of those years where it seems like the injury bug is going through the team and to top players on our team but we still have to find a way to play the way that we can and give it our all. Today I thought that we played a real hard competitive game. We could have been hungrier around their net to find loose pucks and create more second chance opportunities. Just focus on playing a strong team game and know that if you do it will give you success.

On almost having to be perfect to beat good teams right now..
For sure. It seems that way, especially against Montreal. You have to be perfect in all areas to beat them. I mean you look at the two goals they scored, a faceoff loss that goes right to their defenseman and it goes in and the other one is a three-on-two rush for us that turns into a three-on-two rush for them and ends up in the back of our net. Other than that we played a really strong game. There is still lots to build off of as far as our team game goes. We have to look forward to next week.

bruins pups 1On if he came out of the incident last night alright and what he thought about it…
Oh yeah, I’m fine. I didn’t like it. The good thing is we get to play them two more times.

On if there was hesitancy on his part because it was the end of the game…
Yeah it’s the end of the game. I let him know that I wasn’t going to fight him so I wasn’t prepared and I let my guard down and that’s what happens sometimes when you let your guard down. I’ve been in over 100 fights and I never took a shot like that so like I said we get two more opportunities to play the Blue Jackets and I’ll be ready.

On what exactly Dalton Prout said to him after the incident last night…
I don’t remember too much but I mean there are many a times that I could have done the exact same thing and I held off because a guy is refusing to drop his gloves so I find it to be gutless and that’s my thoughts on it.

On Max Pacioretty saying that the Canadiens are playing the Bruins style of hockey…
Tough to say that they play a similar style to us but I mean we just got to find a way to beat them and like I said get hungry in those areas where we can score goals and not be denied. They are a team that doesn’t give you much and when you get your chances you have to make sure that you make the most of them. Especially with a great goalie and a team that plays a pretty good defensive game. For us we just have to find a way to get a few past him. Like I said moving forward we can’t get discourage, try to keep our spirits high, especially with another top team in the Eastern Conference coming in.

On Claude Julien coaching his 800th game tonight…
Great achievement. He’s been through a lot in his coaching career. I’ve had the pleasure of playing for him for the last 7 plus years, eighth year now. He’s won a world cup in the junior ranks, obviously a Stanley Cup up here, a gold medal with Team Canada as an assistant coach, a really good resume and he’s a lot of fun to play for.
