SPRING IS IN THE AIR

We are almost there ! Truck Day  has come and gone, we are about to enter into the last weekend before the “unofficial start of baseball season” and some players are even arriving at Spring Training ahead of schedule… apparently they are just as excited as we are!

There has been a few last-minute additions to the Red Sox this week, right-hand pitcher, Alfredo Aceves ( I find it amusing that he has the word “ace” in his last name) and left-handed pitcher Danny Reyes were signed to minor league contracts, with invitation to Major League Spring Training.

   FENWAY LOOKING GOOD !

This year marks the 10th year since the Henry Organization took over ownership of the Sox and they have completed their renovations on schedule, just in time for next year’s 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park.  The estimation of the 2010-2011 off-season investment is estimated at $40 million, and the 10-year total investment is estimated at $285 million. That is the largest investment in the history of the ball-park. Prior improvements include, new concourses, the right field roof deck, renovated private suites, Coca-Cola corner, The Bleacher Bar, and possibly most notably, the Green Monster seats.

This year there is a large improvement, coming in the form of three new High Definition video displays. The largest of the screens will  measure approximately 38 feet high by 100 feet wide and will replace the main video board in centerfield. Two additional screens will be installed on either side of the main screen. The existing Bank of America board will be replaced by at 17 feet high by 100 foot wide video screen, and the third will be a 16 foot high by 30 foot wide-screen that will connect the Ford and Dunkin Donuts sponsor signs above the right field bleachers.

SEASON OPENER APRIL 1st IN TEXAS

We are almost there Red Sox Nation. In a few days, there will be reports on Spring Training , then pre-season games, all culminating in what we are waiting for, Friday April 1st at 4:05, and possibly more importantly, the home opener against the New York Yankees on Friday April 8th. And remember in Boston Math…04’ + 07” = 11’
