BOSTON BRUINS DEFENSEMAN MIKE MOTTAU
On how it was being out on the ice… It was a great feeling for me early on, going out there for warmups. Playing in the first game, it’s good to get the first game out of the way. Disappointing outcome, but we have practice tomorrow and a lot of games this coming month.
On joining a playoff contender… That’s the exciting part about being traded here. We kind of made a push on the Island and now the boys here are already in it. It’s a change of pace, but as a group we’re looking forward to it. I talked to Roly [Brian Rolston] quite a bit, and having the system in place, guys that have been here before and being part of this group is really exciting.
On Ottawa Senators goaltender Robin Lehner… Yeah, he played really well. The chances we did get, he made some good saves. And we had some second chance opportunities, but we didn’t make it easy on ourselves with the turnovers and a little bit of sloppy play.
On what the Bruins do well as a team when he played against them and what they didn’t do tonight… Well, I think as a group they come at you in waves, a lot of depth up front and everybody’s on the same page systematically. There’s a lot of support all over the ice and as a D man, coming into this situation, it’s pretty seamless. I played with [Adam] McQuaid tonight and he was talking to me, and I thought it was comforting to know that he had support all over the ice with the low board and the D man as your partner. Playing against, it’s difficult when they’re going like that and tonight, just a little out of synch.
On how he feels physically… I feel great, it was exciting with the symptoms clearing up with the concussion and getting back into it that was just the exciting part being healthy. As far as getting traded – it was a nice call. Getting up to game speed is my first priority and just trying to add some value here.
