HEAD COACH CLAUDE JULIEN PREGAME PRESS CONFERENCE

Bruins vs Nashville tonight

Bruins vs Nashville tonight

On if he senses the team is up to the challenge tonight…
Well I’m hoping that we’re up to the challenge. I think that it’s exciting that, you know, we’re on a roll right now and that we have an opportunity to keep it going. And hopefully finish on a positive note here before that short Christmas break. So hopefully we’re up to the task here and just continue to find ways to win.

On what he’s been most pleased with over this recent stretch of success…
Just the way we’ve competed and our resiliency and not getting frustrated, you know, when trying aren’t going our way. Just sticking with it so, you know, we’ve been able to come back in certain games; we’ve been able to weather storms in other areas. And you know I think our group, the maturity level of our group, has gotten better. And when I say maturity- in dealing with game situations.

On if he thinks Matt Beleskey is what he thought he’d be overall…
Yeah I think, you know, he’s…the only I would say to you is that I think he looks like he’s snake bitten right now because his chances are there. But he’s…I like his grittiness, I like how hard he works and everything else. But I think right now if his production was a little bit better than what it should be with the opportunity that he’s had we’d be extremely pleased with Matty [Matt Beleskey]. So you know sometimes you have to…I said that before, I like guys who just compete hard, work hard because eventually I feel that they’ll get rewarded with what they deserve. And so I’m just sticking with him here hoping that happens to him sooner rather than later.

On if he still impacts the game even if he isn’t putting up points…
Well you just have to look at the first goal last game, you know. He’s the one that separates- on the forecheck- separates the puck from the defenseman. He’s forechecking when finishing his hit and David [Krejci] gets the puck, gives it Loui [Eriksson] and he scores. So David’s [Krejci] got the assist, Loui’s [Eriksson] got a goal and Matt’s [Beleskey] got nothing on the stats sheet but he’s the one that made that whole play happen. So that’s how I look at it.

On his lineup options with Max Talbot out…
Just our player Zac Rinaldo is going to come off IR so that’s my option.

On what he thought of Max Talbot’s suspension…
I’m going to refrain from commenting on that because you know it’s frustrating sometimes to see a player play so well and a situation like that happening and having to miss two games.

On the way Zac Rinaldo has played…
Well I think you know to me Zac [Rinaldo] probably had a bit of a slow start here trying to fit in. But I think lately he’s been a lot better. Because he’s been better the line’s been better, you know. And he’s forechecking, he’s making things happen there. And again, he’s a guy that stats-wise probably has a little bit more talent than the stats indicate. And I think for him it’s always been a matter of confidence and being able to bring some of those practice things we see into a game situation.
